my 1999 galaxy glx has a flashing led in door how would i know if its got a alarm as its never gone off, when i got the car i replaced the door light switches as the others were broke i dont know is there a fuse or a master key ? the indicators flash when doors locked and unlocked :( ?

look under the passenger seat,pull the flap to the cubby hole out and inside is the box for the central locking and possible the alarm also,iirc if you have 2 no blocks at the back of the module you havnt got one,if three then you have.so ive been told anyway.

Open the car and pop the bonnet release. Now get out and lock the car so that you think the alarm has been set. Now open the bonnet fully. If the alarm starts to sound, you have one fitted. If not, then there is no alarm (or the alarm is broken).

if it has ultra Sonics, wind the drivers window down half way, set the alarm (by locking it) then after 40 sec or so, stick your hand through the gap, and wave it around, if the alarm goes of, guess what, you've got one, if it doesn't, then you will look like a total idiot! :huh:

There are a number of variants. Some don't have the ultrasonics, and some don't have the bonnet switch.

 

Simulate a break-in......Open the drivers window, lock the car so the led flashes. Then open the door using the handle inside - the alarm (horn) should go off.
